We have had about 40 robins in and around our backyard this AM. We currently have about 8 inches of fresh snow covering everything except the top of an uncontained compost pile. The robins were into the leafy compost (not interested in the fresh house scraps of peelings) and scattering it with great abandon. Not exactly sure what they were getting though I think the warmth of the pile helped as it is minus 8 degrees C here.
