Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/23/2008

Number: 1

A 4 year old child in my classtoldme he saw an orangeandblack butterfly in his yard. He also said it was small, gesturing about 1 inch with his fingers. This area in the Sierra Nevada mountains is not a place one would normally see a Monarch. It was probably a Painted Lady which is very common though early due to our night temperatures in the mid 30's.I thought it was worth mentioning to demonstrate the impact your program has had on even preschool children. I am certain they will be thrilled when the Symbolic Monarchs arrive !!!
