The first Baltimore Oriole came singing after an evening of rain(over an inch) which was needed this spring. I just put out the dried milkweed stems from last year for the Orioles, which strip and use for their nest. This year I also have seen a Phoebe and White-breasted Nuthatch use the fibers also for their nest. I just tie to a post or tree at ground level and the birds will pull what they need. I will turn the stems also when they have trouble finding the fibers. Orioles will use this first over the strings.
