Purple Finches arrived en masse...to 14" of snow! Our snow had pretty well disappeared but immediately after the snow stopped on Sunday, the finches began to chatter. We cleared off our bird feeder tray, covered it and the ground with seeds and watched it rain purple finches, white crowned sparrows, white throated sparrows, juncos, red polls and even a rusty blackbird which we'd never seen before. 14" OF SNOW! There are still about 6" left on the ground and many cold days predicted so we're keeping the feeder stocked.
