Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/30/2008

Number: 1

I have Bloodflower (Asclepias curassavica) in my yard that survived the winter and that has plenty of foliage. However, I have not yet seen any eggs or larvae – a bit surprising.

The wintering monarchs were still moving though last week. I saw 1 along interstate hwy I-26 in Dorchester County, SC on 19 Apr. I then saw 4 @ Botany Bay Plantation last Wed, 23 Apr. Also on 23 Apr, a coworker saw 4 on Capers Island (I think he is pretty reliable). He saw another on North Williman Island while out with me last Thurs, 24 Apr. I have not seen any this week, but I have been mostly in my office. I may be outdoors tomorrow and will be a few days next week, so I’ll be looking.
