Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/07/2008

Number: 1

Saw a very busy semi dull female in my yard yesterday...flying rather frantically and laying eggs all over the swamp milkweed, butterfly weed and common, too. I'd reported finding many eggs on Monday,(May 5) but had not seen the adult...just the evidence! But yesterday I saw which looked like the same female 2 different times...Trying so hard to find a spot...the milkweed is still small and even though the weather has been warm these past 3 days, I'm not sure the plants can keep up! Ha! Ther's no way I'll have enough milkweed to feed these little ones, even if only half hatch! (Of course, I have no way of knowing if this is the same female that laid the eggs Monday!) This is about 3 months earlier than last year for sightings and eggs here in my area!
