Tulips EMERGED

Date: 05/09/2008

Number: 1

Our tulip bed had originnally 50 bulbs planted. Be lost more than half to the cold, wet frozen ground or winter and the wee mammals that eat bulbs. This spring the remaining bulbs came up beautifully as we reported long ago. However, over a long week's spring break we returned to leaves, shortened stems, not a bud left and several plants entirely gone thanks to our pals the deer and groundhogs. Our class still hoped more plants might come up or a plant might unexpectedly offer a second bud. NO CHANCE! The deer have returned and wiped out the tulips from our bed. There will be no blooms this year.
