Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/13/2008

Number: 1

I put out my hanging fushia plant in the morning and then in the afternoon while sitting outside on my patio I had my first sighting of a ruby throat zipping around my plant. I then put out my feeders as I had just made my sugar water food. I put out 2 feeders. The hummer appeared again at one of the feeders later in the day. Glad to see they are back.

Today I had more visitors to my feeders. Females came and there were a few different sizes. They are very busy. No male that I observed myself today, however, may have when I was busy. They are so beautiful and amazing creatures. I worry about it getting cold tonight. Maybe they were around earlier than yesterday. I got my fushia plant for Mother's day from my daughter and son-in-law. The hummers really like this plant. I haven't finished getting all my hanging plants as it had been too cold. Well, now I will finish up so they have more plants in this area to come to.
