"The Ice Is Off The Lake!!"

"The ice has finally melted and open water extends across the lake! The warm temps on these few last days and high winds did their magic on the ice and by Tuesday, in spite of the cold nights, it was nowhere to be found.

The Van Deusens with "Van Air" flew the lake on fire patrol and could find no visible ice on the lake. So we declare Lake Vermilion "ice free" Tuesday, May 13th, 2008!!
