I don't know if this was the first time, but I first heard a robin singing their territory song on May 1, at 8:00 in am, 34 degrees. (We have had a late spring here with ice off our 900 acre lake on April 29 when it should have been off around April 20. Robins had a hard time finding worms when they first arrived - ground still snow covered, but now it is nice and they sing every morning.
