FIRST ADULT MONARCH came 'power-gliding' between my neighbor and I while we stood in yard conversing. It flew so close both of us were rendered speechless for a moment looking at one another, then turned our heads in unison to watch this welcome creature back after a long winter here in WI.
Whether our perception was accurate or tinged with sentimentality about the Monarchs presence among us again, both agreed this particular Monarch to be significantly larger than those I've raised and observed in the past.....more like the summer's end generations that are fit for the long journey.
