Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/27/2008

Number: 1

We had a Monarch on April 27 at Port Glasgow which is south of Rodney in the western part of Elgin County. This was the first time we have seen a Monarch in April. Generally we don't start seeing them until mid May to late May and then only very sparingly.

The

Monarch flew past us and four of us got our binoculars on it. It appeared very translucent suggesting it was very worn. Given its condition we assumed it had come directly from Mexico (as opposed to a 1st generation migrant).
