I observed a female monarch, the first for me this spring, in Columbus, Ohio. Asclepias syriaca was 8" tall where she was sighted. The milkweed at our Waystation at school (noted: growing close to buildings) is very mature, some plants as tall as 37" and already blooming! I haven't see that happening this early and before the closing of school.
