A pair of loons was sighted in about 100 feet of open water along the edge of the ice sheet at 6:30am. About 2 hours later, the ice started to move and by the end of the day, the lake was essentially open.

They laid their first egg on Saturday, May 10 and the second egg on Monday, May 12th, 2008.
