Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/27/2008

Number: 1

My husband saw 3 monarchs hovering around one of the garden beds that has milkweed but he was unable to go out to check their sex (he just had surgery on his knee); I was unfortunately at work. Will check for larva this weekend. I was getting a bit worried because they are usually here before now, butterfly activity as a whole is minimal this year, and gypsy moth spraying is going on all over the state. Jackson has been particularly hard hit with gypsy moths the past few years.
