My milkweed first emerged on the 28th of April following some balmy days in that month. Then, like the monarchs themselves, the milkweed was stuck for at least two weeks as inch high fingerlings while we had one of the coolest springs in memory. My milkweed is still not more than 6 or 7 inches, but one has a flower set, so we are ready.
