Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/30/2008

Number: 1

I was Bird Watching with two recent College Grads who are both expert Insect folks. They were netting the occasional Butterfly when an unmistakeable Monarch flew by at eye level. Since we could not see any dots on its wings, we assumed it was a Female. There were no other Monarchs seen that morning. The area is a favorite location for viewing nature on the border between Hyde Park (Boston) and Canton. The area is called Fowl Meadow and the dirt road that goes through it is called Burma Road. The time was about 1 P.M. (1300). It was sunny, warm (70's) with a slight haze. The young man with us stated it was absolutely not a Viceroy.
Have a great day.
