Since we had such a terribly late snowfall (18" on April 26, 2008) there was snow covering the planting area well into May. We have had much less sunny weather than usual, so the soil warming process is taking even longer than usual. Tulips planted on the south-facing sides of buildings or other protective, reflective areas have already bloomed across the area. I saw some beauties at the south side of a building on May 17th.
June 1, when I returned after school was out a few tulips were blooming.
