I spotted my first Monarch flying over my flower gardens today. It is rather late to see the first one. We have had lots of cool, wet weather. I have been checking the milkweed in my gardens and there are no signs of eggs or larva that have been eating on it. I have been raising monarchs with the children at our school for the past 7 years. Usually someone spots one in late May, but this year I had to wait until the second week in June to see my first visitor. I couldn't tell if it was a male or female, but it looks nice and bright and new. It is always exciting to see the first one.
