Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 06/11/2008

Number: 1

This of course isn't my first sighting of a Ruby this year, but it is my first since the earlier sighting in April. I think that it was in April, I was too lazy to look at the sightings map before making this report.

This was a lone female that showed up two days ago, and she has been making sporadic visits since. I'm guessing that with all of the flowers that are in bloom at this current time, that she has plenty to feed upon. So it very well could be well into late July or August before the rubies will be feeding on a daily basis.

Still though I was so excited to have finally spotted a ruby and I was seriously starting to wonder if any would ever show up again. Weather here has been very hot and humid, the only consolation that we have had. Is everyday has been a very nice breeze blowing all day long and into the night.
