Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/17/2008

Number: 1

I went home this past weekend to band hummingbirds on Six Nations Territory. Kept an eye open for Monarch and milkweed and I was not disappointed. Common milkweed is up along both sides of the highway (dirt roads, mostly) and it is as high as 3.5 feet in many areas. I did not stop to look for cats. We were on a tight schedule. We couldn't miss the monarchs if we tried - they flew by the car on every road sometimes two and three at a time. Six Nations is located about 1 1/2 hrs wsw of Toronto.
