I had been searching for Monarch eggs with my son. We cut a few stalks of milkweed but couldn't find any eggs. It was so hot that the leaves died right away. This was about two weeks ago. Today, we found the stalks under the deck, with no leaves on them, but one healthy looking monarch larva. I couldn't believe it! There was no other milkweed in the area. How could he survive? We brought him home with plenty of fresh milkweed and he is happily munching away!
