Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/19/2008

Number: 1

I did find 2 eggs at the Living Prairie Museum.
Both were on Syriaca, smaller plants among the group checked, at about
10 inches high. Both were on the upper surface of leaves just below
the crown.
I checked 45 Syriaca and 56 Ovallifolia. One of the latter was in
flower, which seems early.
Temp was 70 deg, with light north wind - no sign of the adult I was
surprised at how little herbivory damage I saw.
