Several Monarchs were moving north on Sunday June 22nd between Pointe Au Baril and Britt along hwy 69. I counted over a dozen in a short period of time. Today, June 25th several Monarchs were observed in Minesing Wetland visiting milkweed plants. I count over 15 indivuals for the day. Monarch have arrived in good numbers in Ontario just in time for the Mariposa Butterfly Festival in Orillia this Saturday, June 28th. The Monarch is the mascot for the festival this year. This is the first year of this festival and we have lots of butterfly events planned.
