Saw the first Monarch on the weekend. We don't have a lot of them on the mountain top, and it is only in the last 5 years that we have them at all! Maybe it's because the milkweed has been moving slowly up the roadside only for the last 8 or so years. We never used to have milkweed growing around our cottage; now it's growing up the driveway. There was always milkweed (and Monarchs) in Morin Heights,the village below us (about 700-800 ft). It seems global warming has brought us butterflies.
