I have been growing milkweed from seed in separate, but outside, pots for replanting into my existing milkweed bed. The sprouts are about 6" - 8" tall now, and I was planning to transplant in the next few days. Lo an behold yesterday, I look and find at least 6 Monarch caterpillars almost as big as my pinkie finger! They were munching away and also moving their heads vigorously backward and forward. They were all doing this, so I am wondering if this is some kind of communication or warning system.
