Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/30/2008

Number: 1

I spotted my first caterpillar this morning, a very small larva on a stem of a bud. I do not know where the Monarch butterflies are as only have seen one and have spotted only about 10 eggs so far. And I suspect some preditor is eating them as could not find some of them at next check up. Not like last year when monarchs were often flying and on Milkweeds and at one time I counted over 100 eggs. Hopefully it will be better with more warm weather.
