Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/04/2008

Number: 1

The Monarchs are so abundant on the eastern south shores of Long Island this time of yeat! Why do they seem to favor the eastern south shore of the island? I noticed them around sunset after a day at the beach. They were inland from the beach enjoying some flower gardens.
Last year, around this time and in the early evening, I was completely amazed at how many Monarchs were flying in the same direction of what I believe was the north west. Again it was on the eastern south shore and it was non stop for hours!
