Have feeder in our back yard and observed one hummer yesterday afternoon about 5PM. Did not see him but one time. My wife and I enjoy the hummers and have had as many as four at the feeder in the past years but we have not seen any this year until now. The heat might be a deterant to the birds. Yes, they will sit in a tree but not for too long. They really do fight each other for the feeder, although.
