Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/24/2008

Number: 1

-I saw a female monarch feeding on coneflowers that grow in our yard this afternoon. Earlier in the day, I saw a red admiral butterfly, and also a mourning cloak butterfly. Recently, on 8-23-08, I saw about 10 blue damselflies hovering and perching among a cluster of tall purple coneflowers in our yard. We also see many bumblebees, feeding on the raspberry blossoms. At the moment I can hear cicadas buzzing in the maple tree out front. It seems that insects are out and about this time of year.
