I keep about 50-60 monarchs in a tent for the public to view - each is kept for only a week so there is constant turnover. All summer they cling to the screened top of the tent at night, usually in small bunches, but mostly pretty spread out. Now here in late August this year (and last) we are noticing they are congregating in bigger bunches, almost all in one quadrant of the tent (yeah, it seems to be mostly the southwest side).
