Bald Eagle Sighting in Randolph
By Kimberly Garnett

On Tuesday August 26th, I spotted a bald eagle in my back yard!

At approximately 5:00pm, I went to retrieve my two dogs at the edge of the grass yard in a wooded area designed for them to run around on leashes. As I approached my Siberian Husky Alexis jumped up at something and as I looked up in the direction she was looking I saw a big bird perched high up in a 90 foot oak tree.

As I began to stare at it wondering what it was, I decided to sit down on a huge rock with my dogs beside me. I had seen many large birds in my yard before, like turkeys and turkey vultures but, as I began to focus on bird markings my mind didn’t want to believe what I was seeing and that was a Bald Eagle!

It had the distinct white head with piercing yellow eyes and yellow hooked beak. The bird was dark brown and I watched it for a good 15 minutes. It stared right at me at times and I soon realized that I had seen that stare many times before
