Dew spangled, the wide spider web swayed. No paintbrush can capture such a silk and diamonds sparkle. It's mooring line connected the crabapple across the driveway to the hollyhock by our deck. How could a spider manage to span that distance? With a loud hum of wings, two sparkling green irridescent objects approached chattering loudly and battling in midair. They blasted thru the web like hurtling racecars, sending silk and dewdrops everywhere! Last night, the shattered net again sparkled - in the porch light. The weaver, her eight legs working feverishly rebuilding after dark. Her upper "arms" moved delicately stroking like a harpist,I half expected music. The next pair plucked and wove. Further down silk whirled from the opening on her abdomen. Her lower legs and spinnerets moved like a furious factory machine. Around and around her work of art,she moved a living bobbin.
