the hummingbirds have finally started to arrive; they are approx 2-3 weeks late this year. Still a few filtering through on the 31 Aug 2008. This year we have had rufus, calliope, ruby throat and a single annas. They all love the salvias and agastashe flowers and the feeders. I believe that they are starting their southward migration as they do not generally arrive at my stations until this time and I believe they make this as a stop over from the breeding areas that they have been at. Usually by the end of the first week in September they have all passed through.
