Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/24/2008

Number: 1

We saw more hummingbirds the summer of 2007 than 2008 until just recently. The yellow jackets have been taking over the two feeders until a swarm of hummingbirds came through around August 24, 2008. I counted eight birds last weekend and this weekend I counted twelve. I've had to put 12 ounces of sugar water in each feeder each day to keep them fed. I was able to get a video with 7 on a feeder at one time.

Update: Here it is mid-September and now my flock of friends is at least twenty hummingbirds and they consume 40-48 ounces of nectar A DAY!
