Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/02/2008

Number: 1

I am always on the watch for monarchs...spring, summer, fall. I am very concerned this year. I have seen the occasional monarch here in Jackson NJ, with a brief increase in numbers the second and third weeks of August. The most I have seen at once is 6 and that was only one day. Our milkweed (and we have several kinds and quite a bit of it) was very healthy this year--not touched....no babies. We were in Cape May all of last week and again this weekend. While there were monarchs around, no large numbers of monarchs there either. My milkweed there also is very robust, and no indications that there had been any larvae.
