My daughter shares with 2nd graders for 2 years now at the biginning of school. This year we were able to find small (2-4 days old)caterpillars to take and share with the class. Last year there were NO caterpillars at this time to find. All the milkweed was dried or drying out. This summer was cooler and wetter than last. It may have slowed the natural timeline a bit as well. I still have 39 chrysalis that have about 1 week til they emerge. And another 10 caterpillars... small guys. Just some thoughts. Lisa
