Last year (2007) our grade 5 class planted a Butterfly garden at the back of the school. Our caretaker, Connie Lowe (also an artist) created a beautiful mural on the wall behind the garden. The students were involved in all aspects: research, canvassing local businesses for supplies, digging, planting, etc. It was an amazing example of a community working together to make a difference!

Even more amazing was the fact that monarchs found it the first year! In Sept. we returned to school to find 25+ monarch caterpillars and/or chrysalids. It has been a great learning exoerience for us all.
