Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/07/2008

Number: 24

We took a late afternoon walk around our property and saw a couple dozen or more monarch butterflies flying around or hanging onto some tree branches and leaves on the south side of a small line of trees. I had never seen so many in one place and flying around. They appeared to perhaps be roosting as we didnt see them like that anywhere else on our walk nor notice them flying around.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating 24 monarchs based on observer’s comment about “ couple dozen monarchs.”
