We had hundreds of Monarchs in our backyard (we have about 2.5 semi-wooded acres) Saturday morning. They were clinging to the tree branches as far as we could see, and fluttering about. I would guess we had 30-40 monarchs on each of our 6 large oak trees. Several hours later the numbers dwindled, but we still had pockets of small groups of 10 or so that stayed overnight on several trees. What a wonderful sight! We hope they choose our property to rest for the night next year!
Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
