Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/05/2008

Number: 1000

September 5
We live on an acreage with lots of silver maple trees. For about the past 4 days (since September 5th) our trees have been full of monarchs. I would estimate over a thousand. This morning-- September 10th--it was in the 40's and about 8 am they were gone. This roost stayed about 4 days.

September 14
On September 14th we had a new roost. I would estimate about 300 in this roost. This time they only stayed one day and left about 5pm on the 15th. The temperature the last two days has been about 70. It is still in the 40's at night and that is probably why they are coming in and leaving in the afternoon.
