Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/09/2008

Number: 35

I had checked several times during the day, but it was 7:30 PM on the ninth of September when I spotted about 35 Monarchs roosting 10 to 12 feet above the ground in a secluded spot on the fir trees. The next morning, there were several more occupied roosts on the northern side of the grove of trees. The wind was from the south, so these Monarchs have flitted about in the trees for the past two days. I captured 23 in one swing as I tagged yesterday.
