For the first time in many years, many field collected monarchs are dying before completing their metamorphasis. After reading the information at the Evanson Art website, Monarch Butterfly Mania (http://www.evansonart.com/monarch.html), I began to learn a little about diseases and parasites. If there are fewer Monarchs everywhere, I wonder if there is wider spread of these diseases? So far I have no reports of the emergence of the 20+ caterpillars I placed in various classrooms, but hope some are successful!
