Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/14/2008

Number: 40

The morning after Ike blew through from the south monarchs were roosting in a protected area on ash limbs. I am certain the monarchs roosted overnight on September 14th because my husband saw them that evening. After the wind calmed, and he was checking for damage from Ike. He first mentioned seeing them to me in the morning, as we began our (before 7:00 a.m.) walk, saying he wished I had seen them. We were so excited that they were still there! I went back for a camera and took pictures around 7:15. I stopped counting after 40. It had been cool overnight - mid 50's if I recall.
