I live in Texas, we set our feeders in August because we noticed a H. bird around my Esperansa (yellow flowering)we soon had 3 H.birds daily, then the H.birds disappeared (Sept. 7),1 week later we were hit by Hurricane Ike. We left on a Thur.(Ike hit on a Saturday we returned Sunday, we hung our feeders on Monday and enjoyed them that same day.We have 6 H.birds around my home. I notice that a Ruby throated H. has taken over our feeders and scares away any other H.bird that comes near them.
