This morning just before noon, I spotted 18 Monarchs flying past the reservoir here in Fairfield. They were all heading West. I could only observe for about 15 minutes but was happily surprised to see so many in just a few minutes.
Later, I watched for them at a local park filled with trees for about 15 minutes. Nothing!!
My feeling is that they were at the Reservoir because it was near the countryside where the milkweed is abundant and so was water to drink. Next time, I'll stay at the Reservoir to count.
