Friday was another banner day for viewing the movement of the migrating monarch butterflies at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. The mild, sunny weather continued to foster a strong migratory pattern, although a wind from the south southeast slowed some of the monarchs' movements. During 3 hours of observations, 540 monarchs were counted.
