Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/19/2008

Number: 1

We have not sighted any adults since 9/3 but have been collecting cats from our garden and milkweek I planted at the SC Botanical Garden area that my garden club takes care of. We are involved with the Monarch Watch tagging program this year for the first time. We were doing butterfly life cycle presentations to biology classes at a high school in Williamston, SC when 2 emerged - 1 on 9/18 and the other early on 9/19. We were able to tag both and each of the 2 classes we met with were able to be involved in the release. Both butterflies flew off to the southwest.
