Monarch PEAK Migration

We have a large tree in our backyard, just off our deck. This tree has always been covered by ivy vines. This year the ivy has blossomed and today I noticed the blossoms are attracting many butterflies - mostly the monarch - and also bees (just a few were noticed). It is wonderful to see them and challenging to try and capture a good photograph of the event. I have no idea how long they will remain but I will keep watching. I have lived at this home for over 30 years and this is the first time I have witnessed this with the butterflies and with the ivy blooming out.

we had even more butterflies and bees all enjoying the nectar from the ivy blossoms growing up a large tree. It is so wonderful! I'll estimate that we have several hundred butterflies and even more honey bees! The hum is quite loud - not extreme- but you can definitely hear them. Almost like a giant bee hive. I teach photography and I climbed a ladder and photographed. WOW what fun!
