Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/12/2008

Number: 1

We had three hummingbirds at our feeder everyday. Then Hurricane Ike came along. I was so worried about our little friends. As soon as the rain stopped, I put our feeders back up. The next day, five were back. Now there are 12 to 15 of them all day long. They drain the feeder daily--I didn't know they could eat so much. There is only one ruby-throated one. The rest are various shades of green. There is much squabbling. It seems as the birds gang up and descend upon the feeder so that the one male can't chase everyone away. They take turns eating ttwhile one is keeping the male occupied. They are so fun to watch.
